What is Juvederm Treatment? How does it work?
With the growing affinity and focus on social media across the globe, there is constant pressure on everybody to put their best face always.
Moreover, the stress caused due to the increasingly fast-paced lifestyle and demanding work schedule has started resulting in early signs of ageing.
Hence there has been a lot of demand for cosmetic treatments like Juvederm treatments that can help fight the early signs of ageing and help people look young and beautiful.
What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is a cosmetic treatment used for restoring facial contours and reducing the signs of ageing. It is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure commonly referred to as Fillers.
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that helps provide 9 months to one year of correction for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvederm fillers are used for lip augmentation.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar in the body, it holds the water at the injection site and acts as a cushioning agent. It adds temporary volume to the skin and makes the skin look smoother. Unlike some hyaluronic gel products, Juvederm products are smooth consistency gel.
A wide range of Juvederm products is designed to meet specific requirements depending on the area of the face being treated.
- Juvederm Volbella® XC – to add volume to the lips and to smoothen the vertical lines around the lip area
- Juvederm® Ultra XC – add more fullness to lip and surrounding tissue than Juvederm Volbella® XC
- Juvederm Voluma® XC – to increase volume and contours in the cheek area
- Juvederm® XC – for moderate or severe facial folds or wrinkles
- Juvederm Vollure™ XC – for moderate or severe facial wrinkles or folds, but has a longer life than Juvederm® XC
How does Juvederm treatment works?
Juvederm uses hyaluronic acid to add volume to the facial tissues. Hyaluronic acid helps in stimulating the production of the connective tissue collagen, responsible for plumping the skin.
With age the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen decreases in the human body, thereby leading to sagging and wrinkling of the facial skin.
During the Juvederm filler procedure, the areas that need to be treated are marked with a pen. Juvederm is then injected into the marked area.
After injecting, the area is lightly massaged to evenly distribute the injected Juvederm and reduce any chances of swelling. It takes around 15 to 60 minutes to complete the procedure depending on the area that needs to be treated.
Juvederm injections also contain a small amount of pain-reducing lidocaine that helps in minimizing any form of pain or discomfort during the treatment and after it.
Which are the common issues that can be treated with Juvederm?
Fine Lines
Juvederm can be used for erasing fine lines that develop around the eyes, mouth, and across the forehead. These thin, shallow lines give an uneven texture. Juvederm helps in tightening the skin and creating a smoother surface.
Wrinkles
They are the most common signs of ageing. Wrinkles happen when the collagen and elastin support breakdown in the skin. Juvederm helps in filling and smoothening the wrinkles and restoring the skin’s youthful beauty.
Skin Laxity
The skin around the mouth, chin and jawline are often affected by Skin laxity. These areas are prone to sagging skin making one look older than they are. Juvederm helps in filling the loose skin to create a firmer appearance.
Volume
With age, many areas like the midface, eye area, and cheeks start losing volume. Juvederm injections help in boosting volume and correcting the hollow areas.
Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation helps in correcting the signs of ageing in and around the lips. Juvederm helps to plump and redefine the lips and get rid of the lines around the lips.
When does the Juvederm effect show?
The results of Juvederm can be seen immediately. Though in some cases few patients tend to experience mild bruising or swelling masking the actual results of Juvederm temporarily. However, it is only temporary and the Juvederm effects would be visible once the side effects subside.
